Beauty Queen, Okechukwu Annastecia: Overcoming challenges and inspiring aspirants

Queen Okechukwu Annastecia, who hails from Obingwa LGA in Abia state and the 5th child of her parents, is a model and makeup artisst, who is the current Miss Humanity Africa Tourism, one of the top tier pageants in the country. How would you describe your journey as a beauty queen?

Being a beauty queen is not easy, it needs a lot of sacrifice, Courage, determination to be one.my journey has been an incredible one. Discouragement didn’t stop me because the first time I contested discouraged me, I did say no pagentry again because of what I saw but I have to prove what I can do.

What were the challenges you faced during the contest and how you overcame them?

I was afraid of the crowd, my coach actually told me how to face the crowd and boom I did well.

What would you say stood you out from other contestants?

Actually we all were amazing but my composure and skills stood me out.

How long have you been in the modeling?

I started modelling December 2022, when I contested for face of inspirational magazine.

What motivated you to contest for this pageant?

I wanted to show the world what I can do, and is a humanitarian brand, i said to myself I will use the platform and put smile on people faces.

How has winning this changed your life?

It changed me in terms of standing out for myself without fear, boldness, self-confidence because it is the positive belief that no one can generally accomplish there goal without.

How are you dealing with the responsibilities that come with being a beauty queen?

Not easy at all but we keep serving humanity, because that is the essence of a through African Queen.

What are the pet project you have embarked on?

A visit to primary school/spelling bee competition, onboard now.

Has been a beauty queen clashed with your personality?

Not at all. Even though it comes with so much responsibility it has not clash with my personality.

Who is your role model?

Ada Emeh, Miss world 2022.

What does the sash and crown symbolize to you?

It symbolises victory, power, honour to me and a tool to serve humanity.

If you were not a model, what other career would you have pursed?

Cosmetics, i have passion for it.

Which brands are looking forward to work with?

New Paris cosmetics, makeup brands, clothing brands.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In the next five years I will be finishing my education and successful in business and modelling career

What advice will you give to the aspiring models that aspire to become a beauty queen?

I advise them to keep pushing, keep your head up and work diligently, there is dignity in labour. Don’t follow the crowd, be yourself. Let’s put hands together and change the narrative of pagentry, you never know where your dreams will come through.
