How did your journey in the modeling industry begin?
It wasn’t an easy journey, some may say I should call it a task but it isn’t a task, it’s a life on its own that you have to adapt to the constant changes and upgrade like WHATSAPP AND FACEBOOK. I was a quiet and short tempered person, I thought my anger will help tell people what I don’t like and what needed to be done but based on my quiet nature and stubbornness, no body believed me when I say something even my family. I was a victim of a sexual abuse and my family doesn’t know about it till now and I didn’t tell any one of them because I was afraid that no one would believe it, I was always having issues with my mom, I tried many ways to voice out, I searched and searched for answers on how to save others girls like me but none, until I watched Miss Nigeria 2018, I was busy watching their poise, eloquence, charisma, their project in the society, only then did it dawn on me that MODELLING IS THE ANSWER I’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR.
I started with an online paegent, Rising Sun of the East 2018, and I won but couldn’t make it to the location to get my crown and sash, I went for a on-stage pageant, I wasn’t crowned cox I didn’t sleep with some of the important crew members but I raked havoc on that brand and you know the funny part now, I am part of the restructured crew members now, that happened in 2019, one lady saw me crying and encouraged me, Miss Susan Okoro helped me win the first MISS VALENTINE of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana Ebonyi state and that was 2020, Mind you, my family was still against it, some said I’m finally into that prostitution, I can’t go into details but I continued until I won FACE OF EDDA 2021, thats when my family started believing in me.
It was this brand that gave me that platform to reach out to people, give out more, advice and direct younger youths, and I am so grateful to the brand, I never stopped there, I went further, I kept pushing and I won First Runner up BEAUTY OF EARTH NIGERIA 2021, I continued.. In 2022, I was disqualified for Miss NYSC Cross River cox of my weight, Wow! I was so sad but you know what? I gained the popularity more than the winner in my stream, I went for another pageant and won the Face of MOST PRETTY QUEEN 2022, that should be the last runner up, yeah! I had no sponsors, I was my own sponsor with the little allowance the federal government was giving me, I was so proud, I took a break and boom this year 2024, I bagged another crown. This journey of mine began with passion and consistency and it’s still burning hot!! My journey is still beginning.
What motivated your passion to pursue a career in modeling?
Anger at first ( I wanted to prove to my family that I am human too) Freedom of speech (I wanted to be heard badly) Charity (I wanted to help people badly but had no platform to do that) The size of the crown (funny right)
How has winning this pageant impacted in your life?
It has impacted immensely in me, especially when I look at my past crowns and the present one, I have this different level of satisfaction, feeling of achievement. This pageant really taught me to embrace myself and ignore people opinions about me. I’ve learned to love me first and say No to nonsense!
What is your modeling dream job?
I want to be a commercial model, this is the only platform where I can see myself in bill boards, magazines, on products. It’s always my dream job and target.
Most brands say you must be 6ft tall, weigh 30-60kg, beautiful etc to be their queen. These conditions has created a big discrimination between petite models and plus size models, we plus size find it difficult to freely contest unless we have a strong sponsor and most times we end up as runner up even with the sponsor. So I will like to change that conditions, let everyone be given equal rights in this industry.
What are the challenges of being a beauty queen?
Finances! You need finances to maintain yourself as a queen, you need finances to carry out your pet project, you need finances to support anyone that wantss to follow your footsteps, you need finances to go for pageant, you need finances for everything in your life.
We heard about your pet project, tell us more about it
Yes! Growing up in the village, I noticed and observed many things, women are the backbone of this world, the way they go about working, tilling the ground for their family, thereby forgetting that they are also human and need care for themselves, many women in these rural areas need love, they need care especially widows, many widows cry everyday cox of family burden, so I decided to give them a token of my Love this Christmas. So on 30th December, 2024 you are invited to Ebonyi state, Afikpo South, Amangwu Edda, come let’s spread love to these women.
How is the preparation coming up?
It’s going to be light, most of the gifts needed are ready but we still need supports to be able to reach a larger target.
Tell us about Most Vibrant Queen International Pageant?
MVQI? That brand is one of the best brands ever born out of the passionate and hardworking young woman (Mrs Chinwendu Ifeanyi Oboh), the most amazing lady I’ve ever met and seen, her passion fuels mine, she’s a real role model. She made this brand so great like her.
This exceptional brand embodies the values of confidence, resilience, and compassion, inspiring young women to embrace their unique strengths and beauty. I am proud to be the sole representative of this brand.
What would you say stood you out from others during the pageant?
Like I said in my last interview with you, I was intimidating and daring. And additionally, I was always prepared even though I was scared not to mess up.
Do you have any celebrity crush, and why?
Robyn Rihanna Fenty, yes your popular RIHANNA!! Our early lives are almost same, and her songs brings me back to life and comforts me mentally.
Which brand are you looking forward to working for?
Tom Ford , Zara, Lacoste, Virony pads, Victoria secret , Andre wines and Blue nun wine.
Your favorite photographer, and why?
I have two photographers… First, i will like to acknowledge MARTINS from RHEMA STUDIO, yeah he was always patient to snap me, he introduced me to his Boss MR. RHEMA ADEWOYE, who now took it upon himself to give me shots that I desired. The second person is CHRIS RED from KAYCEE STUDIO, my makeup artist took me there early this year for a shoot and I met him, only to find out that we have a mutual friend, he is ever ready to give you that shots even when you are tired, he’s there for you.
Do you have any mentor in pageantry, who and why?
Yes I have direct mentors and indirect mentor… Miss SUSAN OKORO, she was the first to cuddle me into this industry. Miss FAITHY (CEO KBEN), she saw how serious I was in getting my crown and gave me that much encouragement to continue the race. Mr AUSTIN DENNIS, his zeal to be a macho man fueled my passion and he’s made it big now in Dubai and I still look up to his consistency. Miss STELLA DIKE (Miss ENVIRONMENTAL Nigeria 2021), is my indirect mentor, I got her mentorship through her goddaughter Miss ABIGAIL UHERE (a very good friend of mine), she taught me the basics, fashion and walk of a queen.
If you are given the chance to change one thing in pageantry, what would that be?
Most brands say you must be 6ft tall, weigh 30-60kg, beautiful etc to be their queen. These conditions has created a big discrimination between petite models and plus size models, we plus size find it difficult to freely contest unless we have a strong sponsor and most times we end up as runner up even with the sponsor. So I will like to change that conditions, let everyone be given equal rights in this industry.
Tell us 3 things people don’t know about you?
There’s nothing people don’t know about me but I will like to correct some impressions people have about me. I am humble and graceful. I am stubborn and money minded. I am a giver and emotional, but don’t take me for granted and expect me to still give you because you are begging with tears.
Any messages to the aspiring models that want to follow your footsteps?
I say being pretty is not about being beautiful physically and mentally, being pretty is all about being beautiful in mind, soul and heart. Be beautiful.
